Ministers Valtonen and Mykkänen to attend World Economic Forum meeting in Davos

The 54th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) will take place in Davos, Switzerland, on 15–19 January. Finland will be represented at the meeting by Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen and Minister of Climate and the Environment Kai Mykkänen.

The meeting convenes under the theme Rebuilding Trust. Participation in the meeting provides the ministers an opportunity to exchange ideas with representatives of several states and with researchers and influencers from business and to highlight Finland's views on topical foreign policy issues.

Besides her other programme, on 16 January Minister for Foreign Affairs Valtonen will attend a public panel discussion under the theme Securing an Insecure World, where leaders will discuss solutions for increasing global security in a world of ongoing conflicts, climate change, slower economic growth and new technologies. Minister Valtonen will be joined in the panel discussion by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, Germany’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Annalena Baerbock, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, and Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar.

The World Economic Forum brings together more than 100 governments from around the world, all major international organisations, 1,000 private sector actors as well as civil society leaders and representatives of international and national media.
