Vesa Häkkinen appointed Head of Mission of Permanent Representation to OSCE

The President of the Republic appointed a Head of Mission of the Permanent Representation of Finland to the OSCE at the presidential session on 15 December.

The President of the Republic appointed Counsellor for Foreign Affairs Vesa Häkkinen to serve as Head of Mission of Finland’s Permanent Representation to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) from 1 January 2024.

As part of the preparations for Finland's Chairpersonship of the OSCE in 2025, Finland will reinstate the OSCE delegation, which operates in conjunction with the Embassy of Finland in Vienna, as Permanent Representation as of 1 January 2024. Häkkinen has served as Finland’s Permanent Representative to the OSCE since September 2021.

Before that, he served as Head of Mission at Finland’s Embassy in Baghdad, as Director of the Unit for Communications on Current Affairs at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and as Deputy Head of Mission in Warsaw.

Häkkinen holds a Master’s degree in Political Science. He joined the Ministry in 1999.
